We currently offer two subscription tiers: Pro and Premium.

  • Users who subscribed before December 2025 are on the Pro tier.

  • Starting from December 2025, we introduced the Premium tier for new and existing users who want more powerful AI features.

Note:

  • All prices are shown in USD and may be subject to additional VAT or other taxes depending on your billing country or region.

  • Your price depends on whether you're an early bird and whether you pay monthly or yearly. But the features you get depend only on your tier: Pro or Premium.


Pro vs. Premium: Feature Comparison

Pro

With the Pro plan:

  • You’ll be automatically enrolled in our AI trial at no extra cost to try our AI features. You’ll receive a monthly allowance of AI credits, and this amount may change over time.

  • You can spend these credits on:

    • AI chat

    • Video transcript

    • Insight generator

    • Voice note

  • In AI chat, you can use Gemini series models only.

Premium

With the Premium plan:

  • You receive 10× the AI credits of the Pro plan.

    *This is the current AI credit amount and may be adjusted in the future.

  • You can spend these credits on:

    • AI chat

    • Video transcript

    • Insight generator

    • Voice note

  • You get access to more model choices, including the latest models from the following providers:

    • Gemini

    • OpenAI

    • Anthropic

  • You can upload an unlimited number of PDFs and run unlimited PDF parsing.

  • Even if you use up all your monthly AI credits, you can continue to use Basic AI models without limits

    (currently: Gemini 2.5 Flash and GPT 5 mini).


Shared Benefits (Pro & Premium)

Both Pro and Premium users:

  • Can continue using voice note even after their AI credits reach zero.

Important: This does not mean voice note is free. When you still have AI credits available, voice note usage will continue to consume credits.


Free Trial

During the free trial, no matter whether you start the trial from the Pro or Premium plan, you will:

  • Enjoy unlimited PDF uploads.

  • Enjoy unlimited PDF parsing.

  • Receive the same AI credits as the Premium plan for up to 7 days, or until you use up your trial AI credits — whichever comes first.

When your 7-day trial ends and your paid subscription starts:

  • Your AI credits will reset according to the plan you subscribed to (Pro or Premium).

If you use up your trial credits before the 7 days are over:

  • You can start your paid subscription immediately without waiting for the trial to end.


Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I’m on the Pro plan but want to use OpenAI and Anthropic models. What should I do?

You have two options:

  1. Upgrade to Premium

    • Upgrading gives you access to OpenAI and Anthropic models and 10× the AI credits.

  2. Bring your own API key

    • You can connect your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key. Please refer to this setup guide for detailed instructions.


Q: My credits are used up. How can I continue using AI chat?

It depends on your plan:

  • If you’re on Pro:

    • You can upgrade to Premium.

      • This will:

        • Charge you immediately,

        • Start a new billing cycle, and

        • Grant you the full Premium credit amount.

    • If you don’t want to upgrade:

      • You can bring your own API key. Please refer to this setup guide for detailed instructions.

  • If you’re on Premium:

    • You can continue using Basic models (currently Gemini 2.5 Flash and GPT 5 mini) without limits.

    • You can also bring your own API key to keep using higher-tier models.

    • We do not yet support purchasing extra credits as an add-on, but this is on our roadmap.


Q: How can I see how many credits I have and how many are left?

You can check your usage status here:

  • Go to Settings → AI Features → Look for the Use my monthly limits section on the right.

You’ll see an indicator with three possible statuses:

  • Green – “Plenty remaining”

  • Yellow – “Running low”

  • Red – “Almost out”

At the moment, we are not able to show the exact numeric value of your remaining credits.


Q: I’m an early bird Pro user. Do I get a discount on the Premium plan?

No, there is no additional discount on the Premium plan for early bird Pro plan users.

  • As an early bird user, we promise that you can keep your early bird Pro pricing forever. Your Pro plan price will not change.

  • However, the cost of providing Premium is significantly higher, so we are unable to offer extra discounts on Premium.

  • If you upgrade to Premium and later decide to downgrade back to Pro:

    • You will return to your original early bird Pro price.


Q: If I change my plan, what happens to my existing AI credits?

Under the current Heptabase billing system, there are two main ways you can change your plan:

  1. Changing your billing cycle (Monthly ↔ Yearly)

  2. Changing your tier (Pro ↔ Premium)

Case 1: Changing between Monthly and Yearly (same tier)

If you only change your billing cycle and do not change your tier, we will:

  • Reset the billing cycle of your credits, but

  • Not reset your existing credits balance.

Example:

If you subscribe to Pro Monthly on December 1, 2025, and then switch to Pro Yearly on December 10, 2025:

  • Your credit billing cycle is reset as of December 10, 2025.

  • Your current credits are not reset at the moment you switch.

  • Your next monthly credit refresh will occur on January 10, 2026 (based on the new billing cycle).


Case 2: Changing between Pro and Premium

If you change your tier:

  • Pro → Premium (upgrade)

    • You will immediately receive a full, fresh set of Premium credits.

  • Premium → Pro (downgrade)

    • Any unused Premium credits do not carry over.

    • Your balance will immediately become a full, fresh set of Pro credits.

    • Because of this, we generally do not recommend downgrading mid-cycle to a lower tier.

  • Premium → Pro → Premium within the same billing cycle

    • If you switch from Premium to Pro and then back to Premium within the same billing cycle, you will not receive another full Premium credit refill when you switch back.

In summary, if you're upgrading from Pro to Premium, you'll get an instant full refill of Premium credits. In all other cases, we recommend waiting until your current subscription period ends before changing plans.
