When you close the Heptabase desktop app, the application automatically creates an auto-backup file, but it does not include attachments. This backup primarily stores the positions, states, and metadata of your data.
Automatic backups allow you to quickly recover object positions and states if files are still present locally. However, this method does not restore deleted or missing attachments or recover data on a new device.
If you want to backup all your attachments, please perform a manual full backup:
Navigate to Settings → Backup.
Find the Export & Manual Backup section, and click on Export Now.
Save the exported backup file to a secure external location (cloud storage, external hard drive, etc.).
Tip: Perform manual backups periodically (weekly or monthly) based on your usage.
If you want to restore your backup files, please follow the instruction in this article.
