In Heptabase, you can publish a whiteboard to a live, read-only link so anyone with the URL can view it. Any sub-whiteboards will be published as well.
Create a public link
Open your whiteboard.
Click Share in the top‑right corner.
In the dialog, switch to the Publish tab.
Click Create public link.
Copy the link using the copy icon or click the link.
After publishing, the top bar shows a globe icon and a blue "Shared" label, indicating the whiteboard has an active public link.
Live updates: Public links update automatically. Viewers will see your latest changes after they refresh the page.
Stop sharing the public link
Click Share → Publish.
Click Remove public link.
Once removed, any previously shared URLs will no longer work for viewers. Deleting the whiteboard will also stop sharing it.
Publish a snapshot (Advanced)
Note: This feature only works for users who published a whiteboard before version 1.73.0.
To publish your whiteboard as a snapshot (not live), click "Publish snapshot."
Click Share → Publish.
Open Publish snapshot (Advanced).
Click Create snapshot.
Snapshots are fixed. Later edits to the whiteboard won’t appear on a previously published snapshot. You have to publish changes whenever you want to share an updated, fixed version.
FAQ
How to let others collaborate on my whiteboards?
For private collaboration with specific people, use the Share tab to invite them with view, chat, edit, or full access instead of publishing. Check out the Collaboration Q&A for more information.
Is a Heptabase Pro account required to view?
The link opens a read-only view in your browser; no subscription is needed.
Can search engines find my link?
Links are unlisted, but anyone who has or discovers the URL can view it. Avoid posting sensitive content to public links.
