Cannot update while running on a read-only volume

Updated over 3 weeks ago

If you see this error message:

Cannot update while running on a read-only volume. The application is on a read-only volume. Please move the application and try again. If you're on macOS Sierra or later, you'll need to move the application out of the Downloads directory. See https://github.com/Squirrel/Squirrel.Mac/issues/182 for more information.

This means Heptabase wasn't installed correctly.

How to Fix:

When you download Heptabase for macOS from our website, it arrives as a .dmg file. After opening it, a window will appear.

How to install

To avoid the error message:

  • Drag the Heptabase icon into your Applications folder.

  • If Heptabase is already pinned to your Dock, remove it first. Then open the properly installed app and re-pin it to your Dock.
