Deeplinks let you quickly access specific cards, blocks, whiteboards, or sections within Heptabase from other apps or your browser. Here's how they work:
Copy a link on desktop or web
Cards and Blocks:
Right-click a card or click a block's menu, then select Copy link (cards) or Copy link to block (blocks).
Paste this link into any app or browser. Clicking the link opens the card or jumps directly to the specific block in the Heptabase desktop or web app, based on your preference.
Whiteboards and Sections:
Click the whiteboard menu (top-right corner) or right-click a section, then choose Copy link.
Clicking this pasted link opens the whiteboard or goes directly to the selected section in your preferred Heptabase desktop or web app.
Card and Whiteboard Tabs:
When viewing a card or whiteboard tab, copy the URL from your browser’s address bar.
Clicking the pasted link reopens the tab in your chosen Heptabase desktop or web app.

To change where deeplinks open (web app only), go to Settings > General.

What's this feature for?
Deeplinks provide instant access to specific cards or whiteboards directly from other apps, streamlining collaboration and improving workflow.
Can I publicly share cards using deeplinks?
A deeplink opens content that you or the recipient already have access to; it does not grant access or make private content public. To share content publicly, publish a whiteboard with a public link and share that published link instead.
Can I open deeplinks on mobile?
Yes. The Heptabase mobile app can open links to notes, journals, highlights, PDFs, images, audio, video, whiteboards, sections, and tags. Supported links can also point to a note block, a PDF page, or a playback position in audio or video.
Open the link on your phone with Heptabase installed, and make sure you are signed in to the correct account and have selected the Space containing the content. If the item is unavailable, check that it has synced and is not in Trash.
Some link targets, including web cards and source links, are not supported on mobile; open those in the desktop or web app instead. If a specific location can no longer be found, the app may open the card or whiteboard without jumping to that location.
