How do I completely reset my Heptabase account?

I want to delete all of my Heptabase data and start fresh. How can I do it?

The one-click reset option is temporarily unavailable while we rebuild that feature. In the meantime, you can fully reset your workspace by manually deleting your data — the steps are below. This will clear your content while keeping your account and subscription intact.

1. Delete your cards

  • Open the Card Library from the left sidebar.

  • Drag a selection box around multiple cards to select them.

  • Press the Delete key, or right-click and choose Delete.

  • Repeat until all your cards are deleted.

2. Delete the remaining whiteboard objects

After deleting your cards, each whiteboard may still contain non-card objects (text blocks, drawings, sections, mind maps, etc.). To finish the cleanup:

  • Open each whiteboard, one at a time.

  • Press Shift + 1 to focus on the center of your whiteboard.

  • Drag a selection box to select all remaining objects.

  • Press the Delete key.

  • Repeat for every whiteboard.

3. Delete your journals

Journals can't be deleted directly from the Card Library. For each journal entry, clear its content instead:

  • Click on the journal card to open it.

  • Press ESC to exit edit mode.

  • Press Cmd/Ctrl + A to select all content.

  • Press the Delete key to clear the content.

  • Press ESC twice to fully exit.

After this, the journal will no longer appear in the Card Library.

4. Empty the Trash

  • Once all deletions are done, go to Trash and empty it to permanently remove everything.

Note: this process resets the content inside your account. It does NOT delete the account itself or end your subscription. If you want to delete the entire account, please contact our support team instead.
