If your Heptabase on Mac looks like the mobile or iPad version, with fewer features than you see in tutorial videos, you likely installed the iPad app from the App Store instead of the Mac desktop app. This happens on Apple Silicon Macs, where the App Store lists the iPad app as compatible. Reinstalling from the Heptabase website resolves it.
Install the Mac desktop app
Quit the iPad/Mobile version of Heptabase.
Drag the iPad/Mobile app to the Trash (or right-click the Dock icon → Move to Trash).
Go to heptabase.com/download.
Download the Mac (Apple Silicon) build. This covers all M-series Macs.
Open the
.dmgfile and drag Heptabase to your Applications folder.Sign in with the same account. Your data syncs automatically.
After signing in, the full desktop interface appears.
