Your Heptabase data automatically syncs to our cloud servers as long as sync is enabled (it's on by default). This makes it easy to transfer your data to a new device.
For example:
Switching computers: If you started using Heptabase on Computer A and buy a new computer, just install our desktop app on the new device and log in. Your data will automatically sync from the cloud—no manual transfer needed.
Switching mobile devices: If you previously used Heptabase on your phone and now have a new phone or tablet, download the Heptabase app to your new device and log in. Your data will sync automatically.
However, in these situations, you'll need extra help:
You previously disabled sync and only used Heptabase on one device. In this case, your data isn't backed up to the cloud, and you'll need to manually restore from a local backup.
You used Apple's built-in tools to transfer data from an old device to a new Mac, iPad or iPhone. This can cause syncing issues, and extra steps might be required.
