You can upload as many files as you want to Heptabase, with each file limited to 2GB. There’s no overall storage limit. Keep in mind that when using Heptabase locally, uploaded files will take up your device’s storage space.
For large uploads, the Heptabase web version can reduce the need to keep desktop attachment copies. It still uses browser storage and caching, so it does not eliminate local storage usage.
Upload and processing limits
The 2 GB upload limit does not mean every feature can process a file of that size. Additional limits apply:
PDF parsing: PDFs must be no larger than 350 MiB and contain no more than 3,000 pages. A PDF can upload successfully but still exceed the parsing limits.
Zotero attachment sync: the default per-file limit is 100 MiB; larger attachments are skipped. This integration limit is separate from the general upload limit.
Images in AI conversations: image size, total size, image count, and model support have their own limits. See AI image limits.
MiB uses 1,024 × 1,024 bytes. These are Heptabase’s processing limits; successfully uploading a file does not guarantee that it can be parsed or used by the selected AI model.
