When you delete cards or whiteboards in Heptabase, they're moved to the Trash.
To access the Trash:
Click the Space name in the top-left corner of your desktop or web app, then click Trash.
Or press Cmd/Ctrl + K to open the command palette, then search for Trash.
Inside Trash, you'll see all your deleted items. To restore a card or whiteboard, click on it and select Restore. You can also permanently delete items here.
What happens to AI chats linked to a whiteboard?
Moving a whiteboard to Trash keeps the AI chats and messages that use it as their source, but those chats stay hidden until the whiteboard is restored.
Permanently deleting the whiteboard also permanently deletes those source-linked chats and their messages.
To keep a chat before permanently deleting its source whiteboard:
Restore the whiteboard first if it is in Trash.
Open the affected chat and switch from AI Agent to Team.
Select Change source and choose another whiteboard you own in the same Space.
Switch back to AI Agent and confirm the same chat and full history are visible before permanently deleting the old whiteboard.
Trash currently doesn't support search or filtering, so you'll need to browse the list to find an item.
To clear all items at once, click the Empty Trash button.
Important: Once items are permanently deleted, you won't be able to recover them from their version history.
