If the Heptabase desktop app does not update, first check whether the problem occurs while checking for updates, downloading the update, or installing it. These stages can fail for different reasons.
Check the connection
If checking or downloading fails, check your internet connection. A proxy, firewall, DNS problem, or interrupted connection can prevent the update download; on a managed network, ask your IT administrator to check access rather than bypassing security controls.
Check installation restrictions
If you are using a company-managed Windows PC, or Windows SmartScreen says the app is unrecognized, unknown, or blocked, don't bypass the warning or keep trying other installers. Please contact your IT administrator and contact us. You can use the Heptabase web app in the meantime.
Install the latest version
If the update still will not finish and you are allowed to install software on the computer, download the latest version for your operating system from our official website and install it over the existing app. You do not need to uninstall Heptabase or clear its local data as a first troubleshooting step.
If the problem continues
If the problem continues, contact us with:
Your operating system and current Heptabase version.
Whether the device or network is company-managed.
Which update stage fails.
A screenshot or exact text of the error.
This helps us distinguish a download problem from an installation or security-policy issue.
