Connect Readwise
To integrate Heptabase with your Readwise account:
Get your Readwise access token from https://readwise.io/access_token (sign in to Readwise first if you're not already logged in), and copy the token.
In Heptabase, go to Settings > Connections at the top of the left sidebar.
Paste your Readwise token in the field.
Once connected, your Readwise highlights will appear in the Highlights section of the left sidebar. You can also access them by clicking the Highlights button at the top-right corner of your whiteboard. From there, drag highlights onto your whiteboard to reflect and organize your thoughts.
How syncing works
After connecting Readwise, Heptabase checks for new highlights or updates every 15 seconds and automatically syncs any changes.
Note: Edits you make directly in Heptabase will not be overwritten by Readwise syncs. For example, if you import Highlight A into Heptabase and then edit it there, subsequent changes to Highlight A in Readwise won't appear in Heptabase.
New Readwise highlights are imported into Heptabase.
Updates from Readwise sync to highlights that have not been modified in Heptabase. Highlights annotated or used on a whiteboard are not updated.
Deleting a highlight in Readwise does not delete it from Heptabase.

Disconnect and delete imported highlights
Clicking Delete after disconnecting Readwise removes all highlights imported from Readwise. However, highlights you've already edited or dragged onto your whiteboard remain intact. Your original Readwise highlights (in Readwise itself) will not be affected.
Keep retains all imported highlights.
Delete removes unmodified imported highlights. Highlights annotated or used on a whiteboard are kept.

Find highlights from a book
The Highlights panel in the whiteboard sidebar currently searches only the text inside highlights. It cannot filter highlights by book title or source.
To view all highlights from one book, open that book in the Highlights section of the left sidebar.
To add specific highlights to a whiteboard, return to the whiteboard Highlights panel, search for text from each highlight, and drag them onto the whiteboard one at a time.
