Space search is on by default. When it is on, the AI Agent can proactively search your current Space for content relevant to your request.
You can turn Space search on or off from the settings menu at the bottom-left of the message composer.
What information might the AI Agent use?
Depending on your request, the AI Agent may use:
The messages you send and the existing conversation.
Cards, whiteboards, PDFs, and other content you add with the + button or mention in your message.
Information about the page you are viewing when you send the message.
Relevant content found through Space search.
Content the Agent reads to complete your request.
Current-page information varies with what you are viewing. For example, the Agent may know which card, whiteboard, or PDF page is open and which objects are selected. This does not mean the full contents of everything on screen are immediately sent to the model, but the Agent can read relevant content when the task requires it.
How does Space search use my data?
Space search does not send your entire Space to the model at once.
The Agent first searches for items that might be relevant, then reads the content it needs to complete your request. For broader questions, it may perform multiple searches and reads.
You can see some of the Agent's search and reading activity in the conversation. Source links in its answer can also help you understand which content it used. However, these are not a complete data-access report. Attachments, current-page information, and content already present in the conversation may not appear as separate search or reading activity.
What does turning off Space search prevent?
Turning off Space search disables keyword and semantic search across the current Space. It also tells the Agent not to proactively explore Space content that you have not mentioned.
However, turning off Space search does not mean the Agent can only see attachments you manually add. It may still use:
Content you add or mention in the conversation.
Information already provided in the current conversation.
Content you are viewing and refer to in your request.
Specific cards, whiteboards, or PDFs you explicitly ask it to read.
Space search controls whether the Agent can proactively search your Space. It is not a master switch for whether AI can access Space content.
Can I prevent AI from reading specific content?
Space search does not currently provide per-card or per-whiteboard exclusions.
A prompt such as “Do not read this card” is an instruction to the Agent, not a system-enforced access restriction. Turning off Space search is also not a permission control that guarantees particular content cannot be read by AI.
To reduce the scope of information used for a task:
Start a new conversation.
Turn off Space search.
Add only the content needed for the task.
Explicitly ask the Agent to answer using only that content.
These steps help the Agent stay focused, but they do not create a strict data-isolation guarantee.
If your use case requires a guarantee that particular content cannot be accessed by AI, do not rely on the Space search setting or a prompt for that guarantee. Contact our support team before using AI with that requirement.
